Man Charged with Sexual Abuse and Incest After Fathering the Baby of His 20-Year-Old Daughter

It’s complicated all right.

A Michigan man is accused of sexually abusing his daughter — and fathering a son with her. Just weeks ago, he changed his Facebook relationship status to, “In a Complicated Relationship.”

Gregory St. Andre, 37, is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual assault, according to The Detroit News. St. Andre posted an initial bond of $5,000, but his bond was raised to $60,000 during a court appearance Monday.

Prosecutors asked a judge to revoke St. Andre’s bond completely because his family said a no-contact order against him was useless. They said he’d been calling his daughter and her boyfriend and messaging them through social media. St. Andre changed his Facebook relationship status to “It’s Complicated” April 28, drawing dozens of disgusted comments from users.

Prosecutors filed an emergency motion Monday to revoke his bond, according to WJBK Fox 2 in Detroit.

“She has a son by the defendant. What is she supposed to do?” the daughter’s aunt, Michelle Truszkowski, told the TV station. “It’s just madness. It’s tearing our whole family apart.”

The alleged sexual assaults started in April 2016, according to court records cited by The Detroit News. Police say the daughter’s mother came to them after the daughter, who was 20 at the time, gave birth to a baby boy. St. Andre’s wife, along with other relatives, say they suspected the abuse was going on for more than five years but they couldn’t get the daughter help.

“We’ve been through this for years. It started years ago,” Truszkowski said.

St. Andre said he never had sex with his daughter, according to WJBK.

Police said text messages give a clear account of the relationship between the father and daughter.

“This is a horrible, horrible thing that happened,” Truszkowski told WJBK.

In a GoFundMe page for the family created March 21, a woman claiming to be a cousin of St. Andre’s wife said the family suspected the incestuous relationship “for years.”

“Numerous people asked her who the babies father was and she would never give a real name (sic),” the page says. “The child looks exactly like the other children and resembles the grandfather too much.”

The page also says St. Andre’s wife gave police a recording of him saying he impregnated his daughter after ejaculating into a cup. It says the wife is now facing financial troubles while seeking a divorce. As of Tuesday, the page has reached $50 of a $5,000 goal.

St. Andre has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is in the Macomb County Jail and due back in court June 26.
